Jennifer Sherman is a prize-winning writer who earned her MFA at 23 from the Dramatic Writing program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. She writes television scripts, plays, and screenplays, with her feature thriller IMPRINT recently being awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Screenwriting Grant. Jennifer is the recipient of the Venable Herndon Award for Excellence in Television and Screenwriting, which is given to one graduating student each year at NYU.
Beyond writing for the stage and screen, Jennifer has spent time in the spheres of marketing and journalism. With experience crafting branded content for institutions like New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering and companies like Fullscreen, Inc., she is confident producing work for myriad voices. Jennifer is a frequent contributor to entertainment website screendaily.com, where she writes about film festivals, award recipients, and new deals within the industry.
After serving as an intern in production companies and the Writers’ Office of Blue Bloods (CBS), Jennifer gained enough insight into the world of script development to freelance as a script reader. She currently acts as an Alumni Reader for NYU Tisch, reading and analyzing portfolio submissions from prospective undergraduate and graduate students, in addition to reading scripts for production companies based in New York and LA.
Prior to pursuing her graduate degree, Jennifer studied Sociology & World Cinemas at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She was born and raised in Toronto, and has a Canadian accent she just can’t kick.
In her spare time, Jennifer continues to write stories that focus on the complex relationships young women have with the world around them. She aims to show characters in their rawest state, and believes that storytelling, when honest, is the key to enhancing compassion in society.
